MGAC TESTIMONIALS
A few words from the MGAC Alumni.
Chenyun You (China) MGAC 2016 Global Champion
"MGAC is definitely a life-changing experience. During the global finals, I had to push myself beyond the boundary to achieve things that just seemed impossible. I've learned how important it is to be resilient. More importantly, I've met so many talented and nice people which are a treasure for life."
Ricky Low (Malaysia) MGAC 2015 Global Champion & Champion Team
"I remember a few days before MGAC2015, I called the organising committee to inform them that I might not make it for the Global Finals. The OC asked me if I was really really sure since it was an opportunity of a lifetime and I told her I would try my best. I spent the next few sleepless nights thinking and the next thing I knew, I was in a cab with my luggage. Some mornings I still wake up finding myself in Westin Kuala Lumpur, Fairmont Jakarta or DoubleTree New York like it was all just a dream. I cringe every time I think about what if the OC had said 'Okay, we will give your spot to someone else right away' or what kind of person would I be today if I told myself it's okay I wouldn't have been able to win it anyways. It's been almost 2 years since MGAC and every day now I make damn sure I take every possible opportunity I get and never regret. #goahead #takeovertomorrow "
Clarine Pranata (Indonesia) MGAC 2015 Champion Team
"MGAC was more than just a competition, it was the most challenging, yet life changing experience: meeting 60 fellow students from around the world, jet-setting between KL and Jakarta CBDs to building houses and wells in remote Sarongge, and presenting in front of Maybank's top management. Most importantly, I learnt the value of teamwork. As my teammate once said, "Teamwork is a group of ordinary people doing extraordinary things". It was definitely the highlight of my university days!"
Jade Sy MGAC 2015 Global Finalist; Global Maybank Apprentice
"As a Global Maybank Apprentice, I was able to immerse to different banking functions and expose myself to every facet of the business. At some point, this program has also allowed me, from being simply a learner, to also be the enabler of communication. I get to share my insights to each new team and take away a new learning to pass on to another. This comprehensive understanding of the bank becomes a valuable asset that I am most grateful of, and that I believe becomes a competitive advantage for our career growth."
Siliphone Siriphongphanh (Laos) MGAC 2016 Global Finalist
"One of my mind-blowing experiences is Maybank Go Ahead Challenge 2016. To overcome the challenges, I was inspired to justify my effort. The most precious gift that I received during MGAC is friendship. I had tried to do things that i had never experienced, and most would turn out unexpectedly."
Amiera Azlyn (Malaysia) MGAC 2016 Organising Committee; Global Maybank Apprentice
"2016 was a very tough year for the MGAC Organising Committee. A new hurdle presented itself every day, some much bigger than others. However, the chance watch how MGAC came together from 37,000 applicants from all over the world to the final 60 at the Global Finals in Kuala Lumpur was an incredible experience. Our long sleepless nights paid off in spades, and I’ll always be glad that it happened."
Phan Le Thanh Truc (Vietnam) MGAC 2016 Global Finalist
"Resilience and team work, rather than self-confidence and individualism were two of the important life lessons that I have learnt from MGAC 2016. I was pushed to my limit and out of my comfort zone so that I could explore my hidden potentials and do what I have never imagined doing before. I am now confident that I am more mature and capable of handling calmly and resiliently every challenge that I would face in my life ahead. Thanks to Maybank, I had a truely invaluable experience with talented and amazing friends around the world."
Aj Avijit (India) MGAC 2013 Global Finalist; MGAC 2014 Marshal; MGAC 2015 & 2016 Organising Committee
"Having the unique pleasure of first being a participant in 2013 and then an OC in 2015 & 2016, I had the opportunity to experience both sides. As a candidate the competition was a lot of fun. Got to meet people from different parts of the world, and learn't how to quickly strike up a chemistry with my teammates. Because in MGAC, you don't have the luxury of time. Being efficient is key. As an OC my experience was different in the sense that I literally worked, ate and lived with my team for 7 months. Time and crisis management were the two most important traits I learn't. Although the key to success as an OC is always teamwork, because you can't win alone. You live and die by your team, which in my opinion is the entire essence of MGAC. Everyone grows together."
Olga Zhuk (Kazakhstan) MGAC 2016 Marshal
"MGAC has drastically helped me to learn my own potential and have a glimpse of what I am capable of. Irreplaceable and invaluable knowledge for any fresh-graduate. I will always be grateful to Maybank for this knowledge and unforgettable experience, for the huge network I managed to build with all the friends around the world I met during the challenge, and for a given opportunity of boosting my career building with such a huge corporation. #MGAC2014"
John Richmond Go (Philippines) MGAC 2014 Global Finalist; MGAC 2015 Marshal; MGAC 2016 Organising Committee
"With a world full of norms and status quo, there is a need for us to go against the current. Because what may seem okay, doesn't mean that it should be such. And we are so afraid to resist change that we don't see the bigger picture anymore. MGAC has opened my eyes that there are unexpected people that can make an impact in our lives, we just need to be shaken from our own misconceptions and let them in."
Winnie Leong (Malaysia) MGAC 2014 Champion Team; MGAC 2015 Organising Committee
"The hashtag #lovemyjob is real. GMAP, indeed is a great career kick starter for fresh graduates. The programme allows us to be involved in big projects; provides us rotational opportunity to departments of our choice; connects us to great leaders- and these build a strong foundation to future-proof our capabilities. It's a happy programme to be in. #lovemyjob "
Bong Puthraksmey (Cambodia) MGAC 2016 Global Finalist
"MGAC2016 gave me a life-changing experience. In MGAC, we believe there is nothing impossible. Through all the physical and mental challenges, this business competition erased the word " limitation" out of me."
